This stream flows north into Middle Fork Willamette River near Dexter and it drains a north - south valley several miles long. In earlier days the vale was generally called Lost Valley, and the valley may have been named before the creek. Walling in Illustrated History of Lane County says that Elijah Bristow named the valley, but the exact reason is uncertain. It is probable that the name was applied because the valley was quite secluded.
ODFW - Closes Lost Creek Lake - Fathers day free fishing cancelled.... June 4th 2014
CENTRAL POINT, Ore. – A Free Fishing Weekend event scheduled for this Saturday on Lost Creek Reservoir has been cancelled due to a harmful algae bloom on the lake.
The event, sponsored by Oregon State Parks, was cancelled when the Oregon Health Authority on Tuesday issued a health advisory due to high levels of blue-green algae in the lake.
The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will move forward with plans to stock the lake in anticipation of Free Fishing Weekend June 7-8.
According to the OHA, people visiting the lake should try to minimize contact with the water but can continue to enjoy activities such as fishing, camping, hiking, picnicking and bird watching.
For more information about the advisory and appropriate precautions, visit the OHA web site.
